Expired Domains Increasing Domain Reputation

I am kinda familiar with this interesting concept, where instead of buying and registering fresh domains to be utilised for phishing. One instead registers a recently expired domain. Coasting of the reputation that domain has built up in the previous time it was registered.

This seems highly effective and useful to me, especially if paired with domain-spoofing. Is anyone here familiar with this method. And can speak from experience if it increased there mail delivery?
